In FusionFall, Waldron says there are more than 2,000 items to collect. On top of the boost provided by the nano, there are also power-ups that are applied via armor. Ideally, one person should bring nanos that make them a melee character and another person should add nanos that make them ranged, etc. It’s advisable that each player bring a nano that would specialize in a role. Going over other aspects of the game with executive producer Chris Waldron, I also discovered that players can join together in parties of four. Overall, there are 36 nanos that correspond to the 36 experience levels. These nano characters are what make the game go and as players level up and explore more dungeons, they can add another nano and pick its power. The key is to pull up the nano that is strongest against a certain enemy. The nanos are made of certain material and are more powerful against certain enemies. In addition, there’s also a rock-paper-scissor trait that each nano has. Fans can equip three of them and they each have their own bonuses. Essentially, they are the element that gives a player a class. They are miniature versions of Cartoon Network stars, and they have special powers that help players in battles. The nanos are almost like pets in other MMOs. Lastly, the team tried to introduce some complexity through the nanos. Grigon also bumped up the action element by introducing platforming puzzles in some of their instances. Players have a melee and ranged weapons, and they physically go up to the enemy to hit them. I have to say that Buttercup from the Powerpuff Girls looks completely different.įusionFall tries to stand out from the crowd by being more action focused. I’m actually kind of intrigued by seeing the manga version of each Cartoon Network character. Everything is beautifully cel-shaded.īecause of this, some of heroes such as Dexter won’t look exactly the same. The company worked with Grigon Entertainment, a Korean studio, to develop the game, and they’ve asked a manga artist to reimagine the Cartoon Network Universe to give everything a uniform look.
Hey, I can even run Flashbang Studio’s Off-Road Velociraptor Safari, a Unity game, on my work computer.ĭespite running through a Web browser, FusionFall still looks good. The decision to switch to this platform partly led to the MMO’s delay, but it’s a good move because Unity lets the game run on more systems. What’s amazing about FusionFall is that it will run off players’ browsers using the Unity engine. They create their character, and they’ll have to fend off the invasion. So who’s going to stop it? Well, that’s where fans come in. It is an entity that, like Galactus, devours worlds. In this case, it’s a planet called Fusion that threatens the Cartoon Network Universe. The game combines all these different cartoon characters and molds them into a compelling narrative where these heroes and (some villains) have to unite forces to fight a greater evil. Based on its own universe, the game lets fans create an avatar and explore the world of Dexter from Dexter’s Laboratory or Number 5 from Codename: Kids Next Door. The Cartoon Network is introducing an MMO called FusionFall in the upcoming months. In fact, there doesn’t seem to be many options for younger players looking for a classic mass multiplayer experience - well, that is until now. Club Penguin may be fine for tweens but it doesn’t attract the gamer crowd. And if they still aren’t satisfied with that, they can try out Second Life and make some money.įor the younger set, there aren’t as many options.
If players don’t like the fantasy setting, they can go more sci-fi with Eve Online. For the masses, there’s World of Warcraft, which makes money hand over fist. Nowadays, there seems to be an MMO for everyone.
